Crossroads High School and Junior High is Bureau County's only classical Christian school.
The mission of Crossroads is to provide academic excellence grounded in a vibrant Christian world view in order to prepare young people for a life of influence and inspire them to a lifetime of service for Jesus Christ.
We embrace classical education as the best method for accomplishing our mission.
- At Crossroads we teach students to pursue knowledge, wisdom and understanding in the tradition of the great leaders, thinkers, and artists of Western civilization. We use original texts and classic literature as our teachers, and the Bible is central as the greatest book of all.
- We recognize the foundational role that the classical cultures of the Greeks, Romans, and Hebrews have played in forming Western ideas and values. As our students study and evaluate these cultures, they hone their ability to wisely evaluate their own world view as well as other contemporary world views vying for their allegiance.
- The classical tools of Latin, logic, and rhetoric are interwoven into the curriculum, which develop effective communication skills in the students. Latin gives students an intellectual advantage.
- Students learn material across disciplines as a related whole. Each year our studies center around a historical time period. Instruction in Bible, English, history, music, drama, and art relates to that time period. Our four-year history sequence is Ancient History; Rome to Renaissance; Modern World history - Age of Reason to Postmodernism; and American History. This interdisciplinary approach to most subjects increases understanding and long-term retention of knowledge.
